Em uma palestra TED, o palestrante Colin Stokes nos leva a repensar como filmes podem ensinar a natureza humana, mais especificamente o homem. Como em muitos filmes, o homem acaba por aprender que o que ele deve fazer é derrotar o vilão e pegar sua recompensa, no caso, a mulher. Colin espera que as pessoas tomem o que há de bom dos filmes, como fez sua filha ao assistir Star Wars, onde a personagem preferida da garota foi justamente um que se destaca por sua inteligência e liderança. Quanto ao seu filho, Colin diz: "We've got to show our sons a new definition of manhood." Isso porque um estudo feito pelo Governo Estadunidense mostrou que uma em cada cinco mulheres já foram insultadas sexualmente e Colin relaciona tal pesquisa com as ideias transmitidas pelos filmes atuais.Isso, certamente, nos faz pensar sobre o que estamos mostrando para as crianças hoje em dia e o resultado disso no futuro.

During a TED speech, the talker Colin Stokes takes us to rethink about how movies can teach the manhood. As in many movies, the man learns he has to defeat the bad guy and take his reward, the woman. Colin hopes people take the good things movies show, as did his daughter when she watched Satr Wars, her favourite character on the movies was someone who stands out for its intelligence and leadership. About his son, Colin says: "We've got to show our sons a new definition of manhood." He says that because of a study made by the American Government which shows up that one in five women were already sexually insulted e Colin relates such study to the ideas showed by movies nowadays.It makes us think about what we are showing our kids and the results of doing so, in the future.
