Compartilho uma palestra TED, o vídeo trata de um assunto altamente importante e que faz parte dos noticiários. Transplante de órgãos.

Susan Lim nos conta que mais de cem mil americanos, entre homens, mulheres e crianças estão na fila de espera por um órgão e que mais de doze deles morrem a cada dia por causa da falta de doadores. Nos conta também que em 1988 presenciou um transplante total de pâncreas, Lim testemunhou a dificuldade desse transplante e pensou que pudessem mudar esse quadro de transplantes total de órgãos por transplante de células tronco. Claro que esse transplante cairia na discussão da utilização de fetos humanos para retirar tal célula, porém Lim descobriu que não somente os fetos possuem células tronco, a gordura corporal também possui tal célula.

Ela diz "cells rather than organs and repair rather than replacement" - células ao invés de órgãos e reparos ao invés de substituição - o que nos leva a ter esperança de que em um futuro próximo não haverá a necessidade de transporte de órgãos.

Once again I would like to share a TED talk, the video talks about an important issue. Organs transplants.

Susan Lim tells us that more than a hundred thousand americans, among men, women and children are waiting for an organ and that more than twelve of them die day to day because of the lack of donor. She also tells us that in 1988 she witnessed a total pancreas transplantation, she saw how difficult this kind of transplantation is and thought about changing it to transplant of stem cell. This kind of transplant would be in discussion because of the fact that these cell are found in fetus, only. However, Lim found out that not only fetus have these cell but also body fat does as well.

She says: "cells rather than organs and repair rather than replacement" - what leads us to hope that in a near future it will not be necessary the organs transplantation.
